This sale is for one handcrafted sculptural work depicting a cryptic fetal satyr, resting within a nest of moss, branch, and wicker as though unearthed from a woodland rite.

Designed with an aged, antique finish and carefully arranged natural materials, the piece evokes the feeling of a relic stolen from myth itself. The Satyr is approximately 5”-1/2” and the basket is 8” diameter.

“Beneath the boughs where moonlight dies,

A horned child rest with ancient eyes.

Half born beast and half born god,

Cradled in earth, in branch, in sod.”

Pan, in his earliest and most unsettling form, was never meant to be comforting. He is not the softened god of pastoral poetry, but the primal spirit of the wild itself: untamed instinct, sacred fear, lust, chaos, and the ancient intelligence of the woods.
